A sustainable hotel
A model of sustainable tourism in Mallorca’s Sierra de Tramuntana
The Son Net estate dates back to the 17th century and is located in Mallorca’s Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011). The main manor house was beautifully restored and opened as Gran Hotel Son Net in 1998. From the very first moment, it became one of the island’s most authentic and luxurious historic hotels.
Since that time, the owner has restored the estate surrounding the hotel championing the use of ecological farming methods in the hotel’s kitchen garden and the vineyards, where the indigenous Malvasia and Callet grapes have been planted close to the ancient olive trees that surround the estate. Animals have been re-introduced and sheep, chickens and Mallorquin donkeys now roam the land.
